    Founded in Cairo in 1945 . Goals include close cooperation of member states in political, security, economic, communications, cultural, social, and financial matters. Outlawed use of force in settling disputes between member states but has been ineffective in resolving inter-Arab conflicts. Supports Palestinian cause and Arab and Islamic issues in international arenas.
