    ( 1918 – 2005 )

    South African lecturer and writer, founding member and president of the Islamic Propagation Centre International in Durban in 1957 . Largely self-taught and controversial; nonetheless, widely respected for his efforts to defend Islam against Christian efforts to debunk it. Received the King Faisal Award from the Saudi Arabian government in 1986 for outstanding service to Islam.
