Jamiah-yi Ruhaniyat-i Mubariz

Society of Militant Clergy. Iranian movement that sought to maintain the momentum of the 1963 uprising led by Ayatollah Khomeini . Most important organization involved in protests against the shah, Israel, and the United States, particularly in light of Khomeini's subsequent exile. Other important members included Murtaza Mutahhari (d. 1979 ).
