Nasai, Abu Abd al-Rahman Ahmad ibn Ali al-

Author of one of the six Sunni canonical compilations of hadith. Traveled extensively in order to hear tradition. Eventually settled first in Egypt, then in Damascus. His tomb is in Mecca. Among his other works is a collection of hadiths in praise of Ali , the fourth caliph.
